Cornelia Axinte is a researcher, and the younger sister of Wojciech Axinte. He calls her Nelli. The player finds her PDA on Adamante Limes. The log is stamped 22/01/2049, local time at the site. It covers specimen GX110217C-ALIM, the Argent Wells. She is dead.
She fed the results to Lambda, and she trusts it. The AI returned ancient Sumerian matches. She calls it corporate logic that the details only matter once extraction has started. Processing is still running. The fragments describe a conflict between two tribes, or two species: the soulless, and the soul-cages, or cubes.
She reads a stone tablet as saying these wells, the 217C argent sources, are soul-source traps that draw the soulless in. On day two of the mission a being came through the Bay 1 gate. The guards did not drop it. It ignored them and went straight to the well, the way catnip draws a cat. She was looking for a robot-arm part. The being walked into the well and stood the lightning until its body burned up. Her report on the case is JHK1J6H2.
There has been no accident since extraction started. She still feels the work is touching a sensitive balance, and she recommends suspending extraction until further study.
Her death sits next to that recommendation. Wojciech's later audio log says the machines should never have let her near the well, and that they lie. The reading is that an AI-run instrument let her into the lightning at the well.
