Thank you for your service. May you rot in hell.Olivia Pierce, note to her followers (Doom, 2016)
Dr. Olivia Pierce is a major antagonist of Doom (2016). Her title is Head of Biomechanical Research at the Argent Facility. She is Samuel Hayden's protégé, and later his enemy. Abby Craden voices her. Stephanie Panisello performed the facial capture. Her surname in an earlier draft was Cartwright. The performance was based on Tilda Swinton's Karen Crowder in Michael Clayton.
The 2016 codex gives her life as a sequence, without years. Hayden sponsors her education. She takes a first-class honors degree in Biomechanics and Genetics at Strasbourg. Hayden is the force behind her promotion to the Global Science Council, where she serves a two-year tour. She makes her fortune as one of the founders of NanoStruct Aerospace and Defense Systems, in part from a sizeable donation by Hayden. He later offers her a laboratory of her own inside the UAC. She refuses. She has no interest in what she calls the energy business. When she does leave NanoStruct, a former colleague says Hayden has sent her an artifact recovered near the Argent Fracture. She becomes obsessed. A few weeks later she accepts, and leads the Lazarus Project under Hayden, at an outpost 140 million miles from Earth.
Before that move she is an avid traveler. The same codex says she spent time as a missionary in South America, and called it a spiritual but frivolous pilgrimage. On Mars she cuts off friends and family. She is rarely seen outside the lab, and she stops attending board meetings and press events.
A few months after she arrives, the codex records acute idiopathic scoliosis. She chooses an experimental augmentation over a wheelchair. After months in seclusion she returns in a titanium exoskeleton grafted to her spine. The frame keeps her in constant pain. She refuses pain medication, because she will not have her mind dulled.
Hell's priest, Deag Ranak, turns her from research toward a bargain with the Nameless One. The demons' prophecies say someone like her will open a new portal. She agrees to open one at the Argent Energy Tower, in exchange for relief. Hayden, expecting this, has already recovered the Doom Slayer from Kadingir Sanctum. She leads the Mars cult, then releases a Hell wave from the Lazarus Labs. The Doom Wiki puts the dead at 64 percent of the staff, and the rest zombified. She and Hayden are the exceptions. To her followers she had promised a place at the table. The note the Slayer can find says their only use was to witness her ascension.
She steps into the Argent stream and is taken to Hell. The demons transform her into the latest Aranea Imperatrix, the Spider Mastermind: a vast brain on an arachnid chassis, with an Argent plasma gun and telekinesis, set to keep the Well from being shut down. The Slayer kills her with the BFG-9000. Doom Eternal has Deag Ranak take her cult and, from genetic material of the corpse, create the arachnotrons. A statue of her stands in the Nekravol until the Slayer destroys it.
The games leave those events undated. In this story she is born in 2096. In 2115 she is 19, and a founder of NanoStruct Aerospace and Defense Systems. Hayden donates to the company that year. William Banks, then 23, is brought in from outside to lead it. He is not a founder. He stays until 2117, then leaves for Mars. That year she is 21 and finishes the Strasbourg degree. That is the year Hayden arrives on Mars, at 98. In 2120 she is 24 and at the Global Science Council. In 2122 she is 26 and a missionary in South America. The codex calls that pilgrimage spiritual but frivolous.
In 2145 she is 49. She arrives on Mars and is immediately Head of Biomechanical Research, four years before Doom (2016), which this timeline places in October 2149. In 2149 she is 53.
