Lorenz is a minor character — a maintenance supervisor on one of the Solar Railway wagons. The player finds his remains in Cargo Bay 8 on The Solar Railway.
He appears trapped under a shipping container — more likely dropped onto him. Beside the body is his PDA: an audio log to Irene (23/11/2141) about leaving Mercury, a Haystack contact named Palmer, handing work to Sean Archibecque, and a sudden emergency override on four jet thrusters.

My plans for the next year (Audio log)16 years, damn it! 16 years! Too long to be stuck on the Mercury equator without seeing the blue skies, the sea or my family. It has to end now! Time to spend my credits on you, Irene! After this loop, I'm heading to Haystack to meet a man named Palmer. Boris thinks this Palmer can get me onto a Lazarus ship and back to Earth. So, I settled on a plan and my replacement with Sean. He's a good guy. A bit dreamy, but a quick learner. He'll take over my work. After Warhol, we discussed it and said goodbye. So the plan is: I'll get off at Lu Hsun 2, request access to the Haystack connection, and blend in with returning workers. But since Warhol, something happened: 4 jet thrusters started with emergency override! Why? I hope this doesn't derail my plan.
